BOTOX® Cosmetic has quickly become one of the most common non-surgical cosmetic enhancement procedures available today. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into the treatment area in a safe, simple, and convenient office procedure.

How BOTOX® Cosmetic Works

BOTOX® injections are used to help reduce the signs of dynamic lines and wrinkles on the face, including laugh lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. It works by relaxing facial muscles, which smooths the skin causing the lines to diminish. Contracted facial muscles contribute to the appearance of lines and wrinkles, so helping the muscles to relax goes a long way in creating a more youthful, attractive appearance.

While BOTOX® injections can be used to reduce lines and wrinkles that are caused by aging, it is not an effective treatment for improving the appearance of skin that has been wrinkled by excessive sunlight exposure. BOTOX® Cosmetic is also not appropriate for treating wrinkles caused by lost facial volume. Injectable fillers such as Restylane® are better suited to this need.

Safety, Convenience, and Results

Due to the fact that BOTOX® injections are non-invasive and cause very little, if any, discomfort to the patient, this treatment is an ideal option for individuals who want to improve the appearance of their facial skin without the invasiveness of surgical procedures such as facelift surgery.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is typically administered in the plastic surgeon's office during a fast and simple procedure. Using a fine needle, the surgeon injects the BOTOX® Cosmetic into the treatment area. There is no recovery time, and patients are able to return to work and other activities right away. Most patients experience only slight bruising, swelling, or redness after treatment. The results of the BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment last from three to six months. After this time, follow up treatments will be necessary to maintain results.
